I'd like to have some remote control over what audio goes where, MIDI or OSC controled, or something alike that I can route over a network and control fom any computer plugged in.

Was thinking that someting like this might do the trick, but was wondering what more there is, especially I wouldn't mind it to cost a bit less, some more inputs would be nice and I could do without the ADAT sync thing.

Anyone having ideas about this ?

Perhaps it's time for a DIY project Very Happy

How about using something like this 16x16 crosspoint switch or these digital potentiometers or a combination teherof?

Was afraid so already, time for a sabitacal maybe Very Happy

Did some more searching yesterday and I saw some old stuff, like http://www.cassiel.com/gearhead/dcm100.html they seem to go for almost nothing on ebay (but that could have a good reason).

An other alternative could be one of those RME devices (like the Multiface II). Their builtin "total mixer" seems to be MIDI controllable, and I was sort of wanting to have something like this anyway.

Not sure yet what I'll do, I like the "all analog" idea better somehow.

....noisy.. it distorts the audio in very weird ways...

it is simply a bad egg
not really useful for anything close to serious audio work.

Such a device must do what it is supposed to and at the same time be as transparent as possible.

...and no.. this one does not add analog warmth.. it s more like a Homer Simpson device for destroying your mixes. Cool

Ok, that's pretty clear language, thx.

Just to be sure, I'm not looking for any analog warmth here, just for the "as transparent as possible" and I think analog could simply mean that it works better, not making a discrete signal first.

Otoh, distributing analog audio all over the room with different power outlets being used ... hmm ... I've seen sparks being produced from such excercises ...

Anyway, time for some real analog warmth now, which means more coffee!!

and then back to work ...
