I did not get the Chameleon to play any Bond theme. I bought it because the isomorphic user interface is well suited for xenharmonic tuning systems.

I just browsed the specs, it's definitely very cool.

It has 5 rows of 24 keys, each with an embedded LED. Each key can be manipulated in THREE dimensions, up/down, left/right, and pressure, and all of these sensors have 11 bit convertors, for 2048 possible values.

The wind pressure is 12 bit.

Each side has a ribbon controller that goes the length of the instrument.

At the bottom is a drum pad.

It has some sort of built in control/included modular synth that has samplers and physical modeled instruments. Presumably this is hosted on the host computer though. It also sends out MIDI in some manner, but possibly with a loss of precision. Not clear.

The LEDs and key array have an alternate mode where they become a step sequencer/drum pattern machine.

It has microtonal scale support including dynamic tonic modulation, but the scales are fixed in the instrument and can not be edited by the user.

It seems no one has yet bought one, so there is still a chance someone here gets serial #001? Smile

Personally, in this level of expression, I am hankering for a Continuum.

Well I am liking the Origin a lot, here are a couple of mp3 files, as always not very musical but an example maybe of how it sounds.

Both MP3s use two patches in a multi (max 4).

I will look at putting together a review when I get a little deeper.

Me too. I'd rather have an Opal + half-size Continuum for the price of one Eigenharp Alpha. Opal for precision selection of pitches, Continuum for expressive playing. It's resolution is comparably high, responds to position as well as pressure, and has an optional control voltage interface.

I think that the person likely to be excited by the Eigenharp is also likely to be a guitar or bass player. I really like it, other than the price. I would love to get my hands on one.

There is a CV/Gate interface on the way, as is a Windows version.

That's why I like it so much... I'm primarily a synth player but I also play bass (rather well) and guitar (not so well!)... I used to play french horn, clarinet and sax (amongst others) too so the breath control also appeals to me.

Oh and I love ribbon controllers!

Looking at it that way, the Eigenharp would be the perfect controller for me... If not for the price and lack of inbuilt MIDI.

Just picked up a used MOTU Micro Express MIDI Interface. I still have an AMT8, that is being put to use as the hub for my studio, but I wanted a MIDI I/F for my portable rig, that could do standalone MIDI merging and automagic clock routing. I like the audio->midi converter to Smile

Just ordered a space navigator which is a 3d mouse.

Combine it with osculator for a midi controller, Kyma controller, OSC controller etc.

The Arturia updates for CS80, Minimoog and Modular Moog. Well they were free actually.

Um...kinda went crazy in the last 6 months or so:

Nord G2X
Lexicon MX 400
Ensoniq DP 2
Motu midi express 128 (my 3rd)
Peavey PC 1600 (my 2nd)
plus:
2 48 point patchbays,1 12 space rack,2 8 space racks,1 popup mixer case,2 pull out rack shelves,3 rack power conditioner/light units,32 ch of modular snake

The goal of all this (other than to single handedly stimulate the economy out of it's recessive state Laughing ) was to build a rig that enabled me to disengage certain components (especially effects rack/mixer) to play live without having to spend an hour + wiring. The jury is still out on how successful I've been.I know that effects rack is a good bit heavier than I'd like. Crying or Very sad

On my trip to Blighty I got a Seymour Duncan "Woody" - a very nice passive pickup for acoustic guitar, specifically to use in my Lowden. Still haven't decided whether to install it permanently or use the slightly cumbersome lead that comes with it. The latter solution would allow me to let my guitar to sing when I'm not playing amplified. Anyway, I'm looking forward to being able to play my LOVELY Lowden in a live setting!
