Any thoughts on the Bose L1 system? |
 |
|
| I need a pa system for small -mid size venues that can articulate music well across the frequency range (don't we all?). I'm thinking about the L1 with the second bass module, not the tone port. Any thoughts or experience? Thanks. |

I tried it out in my local Sound Control (before the company went bust) and I thought it sounded great. Much more detailed and a seemingly greater dynamic bandwidth than most small to mid-sized PAs I've used. And the way it all breaks down is ideal for a solo performer / DJ.
If I was using it, I'd be tempted to buy two of the sub units, though. I'd just want that extra welly to encourage proper bum shaking. _________________ My music: here! |

My mate has just demonstrated his newly acquired Bose L1, and I'm suffering from abject gear lust!
I don't know that it would replace my 2x1000W PA for gigs where I need sheer volume as well as clear sound, but I don't think I've EVER been able to hear my own guitar playing so clearly through loudspeakers! I could hear every little action, made me me aware of tiny dynamic details in my right hand technique - "Oh, my pinky is playing slightly louder than my index finger" style of thing.
Mind you, I suppose I wouldn't try to use a system like that for audiences of more than 150-200, especially if they had beer or other types of joy juice inside them.
I still want one for the intimate gigs I sometimes get! _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. Where there are too many soldiers, there is no peace. Where there are too many lawyers, there is no justice.

Well, I've been using my L1 (complete with two subs) for ages now DJing and it's fantastic. I can only the describe the sound as like having a very loud hi-fi rather than the normal PA sound (shredded tin can top-end).
Gigging with it soon! _________________ My music: here! |
