annoying: login takes me off the page I was

Just like in the title...
I'm browsing around electro-music, I find something I'd like to respond to, I login to do that, and I'm taken to the front page!

could there be a way login just keeps me on the page I was?

I suppose I could just click "back" on my browser, but I'm always worried I'll lose my registration if I go back to a page I wasn't logged on... like the chicken and the egg... It's something philosophically uncomfortable.

Thanks for your bringing this to my attention. I think there are two solutions.

1) When you do log in, click the little check box that says keep me logged in. That way, when you return to the site you will automatically be logged in. FYI, there is a cookie that your browser saves which directs to the server it log you in.

2) I think I can put in the little login bar that is on the bottom of the main forum index page. https://electro-music.com/forum. That might be a simple solution, but I have to test it.

I've been a bit under the weather lately, and I haven't been able to work as much on the server as I'd like.

There are other sites I frequent that don't have this annoying behavior... why does it happen here? I'm sure there must be an easy fix!

This site goes back to 2003 and only recently have I begun to fix nagging problems. That's why this site it different. So your feedback and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Eeek!, I begin to imagine what it must be to maintain a site from 2003... I certainly don't want to put any pressure, Howard.

I tried the "Log me in automatically" or something like that box, but it doesn't work for me. I believe this is my fault: I'm pretty strict regarding cookies and I have them disabled whenever I can.

I have gone ahead and I hope this is a good solution that doesn't involve cookies. If one is not logged in and you are viewing a topic, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you can login without leaving that topic. If you do not check the checkbox about automatically logging in there won't be a cookie involved.

If you are already logged in, the login widget won't be there.
