Tim Escobedo MS20 filter.. Subject description: what is Vr in this schematic? help, I'm a beginner!! |

I'm currently trying to play around with some different schematics to get inspiration with my friend on ideas, and I am totally new to working with circuits. My question is this.. I understand that when I see Vr, it generally indicates variable resistor, or maybe voltage regulator(?) I don't think it is either of those... I am just wondering..planning on breadboarding this maybe today, and see if it can get tweaked a bit.. And if anyone has good beginner's advice, I'm all ears.. [/img] |

Vr is a fake ground created with the 100K resistor, 2 red LED's and 10uF cap (top right in the schematic). All points labeled Vr are connected to that. _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

a fake ground? thanks! that helps out big time.. Would that be a 'voltage reference'? I'll be on here asking dumb questions a while I think before I can contribute anything of use..
thank you again, PHOBoS. that's a huge help. |

yeah, voltage reference would be my guess to. I'm calling it fake ground but it is of course nothing more then a reference voltage.
if you're gonna experiment with it try different filter caps (currently 680pF), 2 different values can also give interesting results. _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

| made a good bit of progress on this, had to do some tweaking to get it to a decent range..maybe I'm wondering now if it's even possible to somehow convert the vr to -9v? does anyone think that could be somehow possible? |
