I have been sequencing now for about 6 months using a pc, however my pc is not all that powerful, i just upgraded the memory, but i am still having problems. I mainly use cubase 3sx and reaktor 5 using cubase is fine, but reaktor is so damn powerful, it really eats my cpu and i get lag.

I am going to either buy a new computer or laptop

My question is, are there laptops powerful enough to run reaktor? my pc has these specs: AMD sempron 2Ghz 1gb RAM and i can only load 2 reaktor synths and one effect. i would really appreciate any advice from anyone who knows about laptops

(the reason i was thiking to get a laptop is for the possiblity that i might do some live shows in the future)

Yes of course. However that also brings up the question "how long is a piece of string?".

You can use Reaktor on most laptops, but it of course, depends on how big your ensembles are etc.

If you are really serious about getting a new laptop, then I insist, you must look at the new Macbook from Apple. There's digital and analogue I/O as standard, USB2 and Firewire too. But best of all, is the Intel Core-Duo II chip which means you can run both Microsoft Windows as well as OSX.

They're as fast as any desktop I've ever used.

EDIT; I should also mention looking at the Macmini range too. You can use your existing monitor and keyboard with them- and they're tiny too Cool
